Intro – The story of my first time clearing cash
I remember the first time my iPhone had become so slow that it took 10–15 seconds to open WhatsApp. I was honestly thinking that the phone has become old now, I will have to buy a new one. But then a friend casually said: “Dude, try clearing the cache once, maybe the issue will be solved.” And I tried. Believe me, the phone literally took birth! Since then I use it regularly. You will notice that small tricks make the iPhone look absolutely fresh.
What is cache? (With a simple example)
Imagine a cafe where you visit every day and the waiter remembers your favourite order. The next time you go, he brings it instantly. This is what cache does. Apps and Safari save your preferences or temporary files so that you get a fast response the next time. But the problem is that with time these “memories” become heavy and the phone becomes slow.
I think it is important to understand that deleting cache
does not mean deleting your photos, contacts or personal files. These are just
unnecessary temporary things.
Why It’s Necessary: Learn from my mistake
I honestly used to ignore the cache. Result? Instagram used to crash, Safari used to hang and the battery used to drain completely. When I finally started clearing the cache, 80% of the problems were solved.
The phone became fast.
Storage became free.
Apps started running smoothly.
And best of all, battery backup improved.
Think if you also use more apps daily, then how much data
will be accumulated in the background.
How Do I Clear Cache on My iPhone? Step-by-Step Guide
1. Clearing the Cache of Safari Browser
Open Settings > Safari.
Select "Background and website data" to proceed
further down the page..
Confirm.
At first I was afraid that maybe passwords will also be
deleted, but it does not happen. Only history and junk data is removed.
2. Clearing App Cache (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram etc.)
Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
Select the application that's taking up more space..
Choose “Offload App”.
This option is best because the app gets uninstalled but the
data remains saved. When you install it again, you start over. I reduced the
size of Facebook from 1.6GB to 400MB using this trick.
3. Restart – A Small Hack
It may sound strange, but sometimes just restarting is
enough. When I game late at night and the phone heats up, a restart literally
relaxes the phone. This clears the temporary cache.
4. Cleanup in iPhone Storage Settings
Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
There, in “Recommendations”, Apple itself gives tips on which data should be deleted.
There is an option to remove old iMessages, large attachments, and unused apps.
This feature seems to be the most underrated to me.
5. Third-Party Cleaner Apps – Worth It?
I have personally tried “Cleaner Pro” and “PhoneClean”. They
work a little but honestly I find Apple’s own system to be more secure and
reliable. By the way, if you want to experiment, you can try the free versions.
My Routine: How Do I Clear Cache on My iPhone Regularly?
I have developed a habit: every Sunday I clear the cache of
Safari and two heavy apps. You may find it strange but I feel that this keeps
my iPhone healthier. Just like we clean our room, we should also refresh our
phones.
Extra tips that will come in handy
If the phone is lagging, close unnecessary tabs.
Disabling background app refresh also improves speed.
Use iCloud to smartly save phone space....
Backup photos and videos to Google Photos.
When clearing the cache solved my problem
I remember once I was in a Zoom meeting and the phone was
hanging repeatedly. The boss said “your net is probably slow” but actually the problem was cache. As soon as I cleared the cache of Safari and background
apps, the next meeting went smoothly. You may also find this small hack
strange, but it makes a difference between a stressful and smooth online call.
You too can feel as if your iPhone is new
Imagine if you have been using an iPhone for 2–3 years and
feel that it has become outdated now. I feel that just by cleaning the cache
and doing a little storage management the phone literally becomes fresh. I
personally thought that my iPhone 11 Pro had become old, but when I cleared the
cache and deleted unnecessary data, the phone's speed came back. This is why I
say - before you decide to buy a new iPhone, clear the cache once and check it.
